Before you begin, make sure your drone is fully charged and you have the appropriate DJI Assistant installed on your computer. There are different versions of them!

Get Your DJI Assistant Software From DJI

While you are waiting for the software to install and your drone to charge, dig into your bag, and find the OTG USB cable that came with it. All DJI models come with the appropriate cables to update your drone’s firmware.

Steps: Update DJI Drone Firmware

  1. Turn on your DJI drone and plug it into the computer. Most of them use an OTG MicroUSB cable, I believe.
  2. Launch DJI Assistant on your computer. Select your drone once the program has detected it.
  3. On the upper left, select the tab labeled ‘Firmware Update.’
  4. This tab should have brought up a ‘Firmware List’ being shown to you on the main page. Look toward the bottom and you will see a clickable ‘Restore Factory Defaults’ button or something very similar.
  5. Wait for the progress bar to complete to 100% and you are done!

Don’t forget, now you will need to set up everything all over again, including linking the controller.
